Changzhou Science Park, also known as Changzhou Science and Education Town, is located in Wujin District in Changzhou City. It was built in 2002 and covers a total area of 5 square km. It is jointly constructed by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (JPDE), Jiangsu Science and Technology Department and Changzhou People’s Government. It is the core of the National Autonomous Innovation Demonstration Zone in Southern Jiangsu.
The Park is divided into HE park (home to 1 university and 5 technical colleges) & R&D and Incubation park (home to over 2000 high tech enterprises), with more than 10,000 engineers and scientists. It is amazing to note that this is only one of over 60 science parks in Jiangsu province!
On 25th Oct 2019, Professor Alan Marshall, Dr. Xin Tu and Cynthia Yu Wang, together with David Wang and Cathy He from British Council, met with Dr. Lu, deputy director of the Park and 4 companies representatives (NUElectronics, Zeekon Technology, Luhang Rail Transportation Technology and Asialand) in regard to setting up a joint lab, with the support of British Council, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and Jiangsu University.
A Technology Transformation Centre was proposed to be established within the Jiangsu University Research Institute in the Park and will be led by Jiangsu University (JSU), so that Changzhou Science Park can work with all UK partners via JSU. JSU Research Institute will conduct the operation with staff. It was agreed that the partnership will be policy supported by JPDE then financially supported by Changzhou Science Park to cover staff cost, international flights and conferences.
